About Hanlie

At an early age, Hanlie learned to appreciate the beautiful Western Cape where she grew up.  The beaches with their cold oceans and the mountains, with Table Mountain proudly at the heart of the city.  She has a passion for animals, especially dogs, and enjoys volunteering at dog shelters around Cape Town.  She tries her hand at food creations in the kitchen for anyone daring enough to join the party.  She loves bringing her family together and spoils her adoring niece and nephew regularly. 

Early Hanlie

Hanlie started her education after matric with an adventure, working in Holland for a year.  Her love for traveling grew, and she has been most recently in Ireland, Belfast, and Malta.  After her gap year, she started studying for a degree in psychology.  From this experience, she developed a keen interest in the psyche of what makes people “tick.”  She’s always been a people pleaser and enjoys making people happy. 

Hanlie now

A few years ago, Hanlie met the love of her life.  This lifestyle change made her invest more time and interest in the LGBTQ community and became more passionate about fighting for LGBTQ rights.  Hanlie now earns her living working in the South African Taxation department for an accounting firm and saves her spare change for her next world trip.  She spends her free time writing, following different series and movies, getting lost in books, and spending time with her family.  Every year she takes a trip up Table Mountain on her birthday and drives along the scenic route around the coast.  She’s happiest with a good book, a prizewinning cup of coffee, and a view of the ocean.
